We have visited many times unfortunately this was not their best day. Maybe because the owner visited. I ordered a Kahlua coffee and got Tia Maria. When I went to pay for our meal and pointed out it was a Tia Maria the young girl said it’s the say thing. I said no Kaluha coffee is not the same as Tia Maria. She insisted that’s what I ordered and I said no I would never order that because I don’t particularly like the flavour and then the very tall waiter joined in and said it’s the same and they don’t have Kahlua liquor in. You missed your tip and you were both very rude to me! I was taken about your attitude towards me you only needed to say we haven’t got it in not lie and make out I’m a fool. Thanks we visit our cousin frequently and you too and we are from Manchester, it’s a special time as our cousin has cancer . I notice he acknowledge and knew your boss I wonder how she feels about your attitude especially the very tall waiter, you are truly a rude and loud person. You should have apologised and at least offered refund I would have said NO PROBLEMS. I tried to contact you As you suggested on Friday and was told by your manager you were on holiday and then he said you would be in on Saturday but again the manager said you were off sick. I don’t now want to discuss anything with your manager as he was the one that I thought was awfully rude to me. I would like to add the celeriac soup was a bowl of cream I think chef forgot to put it in. The fish pie thing was two shrimps lots of salmon but because there was so little sauce it was dry also the mash was hard I thought it was gnocchi at first that was not good.

It looked good on the Booking dot com website, and in reality it was better than we expected. Friendly, helpful staff, great food and drinks at reasonable prices. Very quiet. A short walk from Rufford. Bus stop outside, railway station in walking distance. Highly recommend this place.

This October we hosted a 40th wedding anniversary dinner here for 25 of our family and friends, most of us staying at the hotel. The staff and team at the Rufford Arms have been beyond helpful and accommodating from start to finish. The food was amazing and great value for money for a big party and 2-course meal, breakfast was also tasty. The rooms were well decorated, warm and clean. The whole place was really modern and nicely decorated and I can't rate the staff highly enough for all their help with making it a really memorable weekend for our parents.

Evening meal at the restaurant. We eat here regularly and we consider it to be the best restaurant in the area. Food and service is always great. I am vegetarian and had wild garlic mushrooms with sourdough bread to start, vegetable bourguignon for mains and shared a biscoff cheesecake for desert. All delicious. My fellow guests had various meat dishes and also commented how tasty the food was. The restaurant is also dog friendly. For hotel guests, the hotel is a few minutes walk to the canal towpath and footpaths.

The visit to the Rumford Arms restaurant was a delightful experience for both of us. The exquisite food prepared by the chef was truly exceptional, and the attentive and friendly staff made our evening even more enjoyable. Celebrating my birthday at the restaurant added a special touch to the evening, and the delicious food made the celebration truly unforgettable. As first-time visitors, we were highly impressed and are already looking forward to returning in the future.

The room was on the small side but clean and functional. Food and service was exceptional. Particularly recommend the Sea Bass and Fish and Chips. The cheesecake for pudding was simply delicious. Car park is rather tight for larger cars but there is a small side road if full.

By far the best example of a business in the Hospitality Industry that provides 'quality' customer service & food. Every experience I've had at the Rufford Arms has been absolutely spot on! All the staff are brilliant and always accommodating and welcoming. I've also had the pleasure of staying and the rooms and they're spotless.

Another superb meal at this place. Food, service and ambience are always first class. We took advantage of the special £25 two course menu which is excellent value for this standard of food.

Lovely meal yesterday. The Goats Cheese Bonbons were outstanding. Beautiful taste and very well presented. Has to be one of the best starters ever. Staff as usual were very attentive and nothing was too much. Thanks Ben and Ellie. Only restaurant where everything is spotless including cutlery. I highly recommend it and price in current climate is great.

We contacted Rufford Arms having receiving an underwhelming response elsewhere and they quickly and efficiently helped up put together a wake for my Father’s funeral. Everyone we came into contact with was so efficient, attentive and professional. Nothing was too much trouble and people both locally and from out the area commented on the quality of the venue, service and food. Thank you Rufford Arms.

My overall assessment is based upon the embarrassment I experienced at Breakfast. I was part of a party of 7 people staying overnight to attend a funeral. Breakfast is £14. This includes a selection of buffet items and a cooked breakfast. The cooked element ranged from a full English to a sausage sandwich. I noticed that it was £14 regardless of whether I opted for the full English breakfast or the sausage sandwich. I highlighted this to my company, stating the obvious that the full English was better value and that in comparison the sausage sandwich was overpriced. Unfortunately I was overheard by the staff member in attendance who duly came over to our table and somewhat unnecessarily pointed out that the £14 also included the buffet items. I felt reprimanded and a little humiliated. I just accepted what she said although she completely missed the point I was making, i.e. that the full breakfast represented better value. My humble advice to the staff member is not to involve themselves in the private conversations of guests.
